USA wins the World Cup final at St. Vincent’s in the Netherlands
The U.S. defeated Italy, which has not won a World Cup since 1994, to clinch the championship at St Vincent’s.
The United States beat Ghana in a penalty shootout to advance to the semifinals.
USA coach Tab Ramos said the team had not taken any precautionary measures.
“We haven’t had any,” Ramos said.
“That’s the way it is with the World Cups, and that’s how it is in the other sports, too.
We’ll just play the game.
We have the mentality of a team that is going to do whatever is needed to get the job done.”
The victory is a huge boost for Ramos, who has been in the United States since 2005.
“I have to be proud of myself for this win,” Ramos told reporters after the game, according to NBC.
“This is the first time I’ve won the World Championship in the U.K. It is a very big thing for me to be a part of that.
