Driving Academy founder and chairman, Deepak Srivastava, has invested more than Rs. 20 crore in the venture, which will start from the current campus in Pune, Maharashtra, and expand into Mumbai, Pune and Delhi. 

Srivastavas drive academy is being funded by his father, who owns the Tata Motors and Tata Steel Group, the two largest private equity firms in India. 

The aim of the academy is to teach the driving skills of the colonels, who are in charge of the colonial administration in the British East India Company, as well as provide them with the driving techniques of India’s colonial army. 

“Our aim is to educate the colonials with the most advanced driving techniques in India, and to give them an opportunity to improve their driving skills and also get the best possible driving instructors,” Srivartava said in a statement. 

His academy has been set up with the help of Indian company, TNC, and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, a think tank in Mumbai. 

According to the report, the academy will focus on training the colonies driving skills, which include driving, navigating and operating vehicles. 

It also hopes to have around 2,000 students by the end of the first year, which is set to begin in April. 

At the moment, India has around 6,000 colonels with more than 2,300 in the military. 

As a result, Srivavas academy aims to train them in “all the basic driving techniques” of the armed forces, including driving, manoeuvring, controlling the vehicle and maintaining traffic, according a statement on the academy’s website. 

India’s first colonels driving academy is expected to start in Mumbai in April 2020, with the academy to expand to Delhi in April 2021, the statement said.
