Brentwood Academy graduate’s mother and stepdad leave court over sexual abuse lawsuit
Brento, California, (NBC News) — The mother of a Brentwoods Academy graduate who was sexually assaulted at a Los Angeles hotel room says she will not allow her daughter to go to the same school next year.
Brentwood mother Mary Jane Jones said she and her husband were upset about the decision on Thursday but agreed to accept the school’s decision.
Brantwood Academy spokeswoman Emily Schmitt said the school will hold a community forum on Saturday.
The school is planning a memorial service for the victim at 3 p.m.
The hearing is open to the public.
Amber Brantley-Watson, who attended the school in 2012, said she has not yet spoken with her daughter, who graduated in May.
But she said she would continue to support her and help her get through the next year of school.
“I feel for her and I don’t want her to have to go through that,” she said.
